Before your appointment
-
Hair must be at least 1/4"
-
Moisturize your skin regularly before your treatments and keep yourself hydrated to
facilitate easier hair removal -
Exfoliate your skin gently on a regular basis before treatment
-
Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for 48 hours prior to treatment
-
First time? Taking your favorite OTC pain reliever such as Aleve® or Motrin® 45 minutes before your treatment can help your comfort level
-
On the day of treatment: Shower and don't use any products on the skin
Aftercare instructions
Aftercare for freshly sugared or waxed skin keeps ingrown hairs to a minimum and ensures your skin remains soft, hydrated and healthy between appointments.
-
Remember the three keys to sugaring/waxing success: Keep it clean, cool and dry
-
Avoid touching the treated area. Your hands can move infection-causing dirt, oil and bacteria into the hair follicles.
-
Skin spotting: Tiny red spots may appear where hair was removed from the follicle—most commonly on the legs. Don’t be concerned—these will disappear soon.
-
Tiny "pimples" may sometimes appear. If they do, use a warm witch hazel compress on them. Keep the skin clean.
-
After 48 hours, start gentle exfoliation or apply an anti-ingrown product like Bump and Blemish each time you bathe (be sure to read the instructions first). This is important for minimizing ingrowns.
-
Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for 48 hours after treatment. Always wear sunscreen at all times of the year.
-
No heavy creams on the skin for 48 hours
-
No sauna use, lake or river swimming for 48 hours
-
Try not to wear makeup or apply deodorant to the treated areas for at least 48 hours
-
Avoid sweaty activities for at least 24 hours. If that's not possible, apply a spray-on antibacterial to act as a barrier. Perspiration wicks in bacteria and that can equal an acne breakout. Take a shower immediately after the activity.
-
Don't wear tight-fitting clothing that can cause friction or retain moisture. If you must wear tight clothing/uniforms, apply antibacterial spray before dressing.
